NWA Summit 2023: Celebration of Entrepreneurship
Join the first gathering of its kind… where Americans from all backgrounds come together to realize the potential in all of us to be starters, makers, doers, dreamers.
Right to Start will host a summit to celebrate and advance Arkansas’s entrepreneurial economy. The “Celebration of Entrepreneurship” will be on Tuesday, August 22nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Momentary in Bentonville. This will be a unique hands-on event, where every attendee will be an active contributor and collaborator. Together, participants will develop a set of future actions to remove barriers and expand entrepreneurial opportunity for Arkansans.
The Celebration will bring together entrepreneurs, policymakers, civic leaders, ecosystem builders, and other supporters across the region’s entrepreneurial fabric. It will highlight the brilliance of Arkansas entrepreneurs, unveil new data about the region, and showcase policy-in-action. Participants will gain new insights on the entrepreneurial economy, make connections with people from different walks of life, and learn the latest ideas on breaking barriers for entrepreneurs.
Right to Start, the national nonprofit organization championing entrepreneurship as a civic priority, has six advocates in Northwest Arkansas, who bring the voice of underrepresented entrepreneurs to civic leaders and work with policymakers to reduce barriers so that everyone can pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
Among the region’s leaders who will be speaking at the event are Bentonville Mayor Stephanie Orman and State Representatives Aaron Pilkington and Denise Garner. Also participating will be representatives of the Arkansas Coalition of the Marshallese, Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Bentonville Chamber of Commerce, Black-Owned Northwest Arkansas, Conexión de Negocios Latinos, Curate, E for All (NWA), Forge, Kiva US, Rejoicy, Rogers-Lowell Chamber of Commerce, University of Arkansas Office of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and Woman Run (a Wright, Lindsey & Jennings Initiative).
The event is free and open to entrepreneurs, policymakers and all other supporters of entrepreneurship. More information is available at www.righttostart.org/nwa-summit. Registration is required here. We hope you will join members of Black-Owned Northwest Arkansas at the event.
Community Announcements
The Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Council is initiating a groundbreaking community-wide initiative designed to amplify the voices of the Black community across Northwest Arkansas.
"The State of Black NWA” census project will help us gain a deeper understanding of the quality of life in Northwest Arkansas, with a particular focus on members of the Black community.
This comprehensive census, supported by a grant from the Community Engagement Fund at the Arkansas Community Foundation and funding from The Excellerate Foundation, provides an unparalleled opportunity to encapsulate the perspectives of their “beloved community” aiming to elevate their diverse needs and aspirations within the rapidly growing NWA region.
